Sox Win Again 6-5 Over O's

For a team that has owned the Red Sox over the past few seasons this year's edition of the Orioles are not having much success thus far. The Sox are 4-2 in the early going of 2014 against their division rival from Baltimore. Last night the Sox were very opportunistic & took advantage of several defensive miscues by the O's that lead to a 6-5 win. Nice hitting by Jonny Gomes who lifted a 3-run homer into the monster to get the Sox back into the game at 5-3 after they fell behind early 5-0. Then in the 9th Mike Carp hit a line drive to left with the bases loaded which was caught, but then thrown very errantly home which allowed Dustin Pedroia to score the winning run. When you start getting more timely hitting & breaks start going your way (like the transfer play) it results in more wins. The Sox have 4 wins in their last 5 tries. A long homestand may be just what is needed to finally give this team some traction. Also, Victorino & Middlebrooks should return later this week. Things are looking up!
