Sox Need to Re-Sign Lester

4 years & $70 million - way too low. If you only want to go 4 years, the Sox should up their ante to $90 million. The Sox should offer 5 years at $100 million. With Peavy & Lackey on their way out & Doubront so-so as a starter, I'd hate to see the Sox lose Jon Lester to free agency & be left with Clay Buchholz as their #1. As Peter Gammons said on MLB Network, the Sox need Lester to mentor several young pitchers coming up through the system - just as Pedroia is mentoring the infielders like Middlebrooks & Bogaerts. Pedroia will end his career in a Red Sox uniform. Jon Lester should be afforded the same opportunity.
