Sox 5, Rangers 1
3 insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th helped the Sox to get back in the win column, first win at Fenway, & take game 1 from the Texas Rangers 5-1. Remember the 3 phases of the game I talked about yesterday? Well, the Sox had good starting pitching from John Lackey (7 innings, 1 run), 2 innings of scoreless relief from Capuano & Koji & very timely hitting by Jackie Bradley, Jr., Daniel Nava & Dustin Pedroia to score 3 in the 8th. Mike Napoli & JBJ each had 3 hits on the night. It was almost sad to see Prince Fielder try to field a bunt for a hit by JBJ as he fumbled the ball, then threw wildly to 1st base allowing AJ Pierzynski to score the first of 3 runs. Pribe may have PTSD from the Detroit series last year in the ALCS where he didn't show up offensively. Finally, Daniel Nava seems to have issues in LF this year, playing balls off the wall too closely & having the bounce go by him for an extra base. Other than that, a nice team win.
