Red Sox 8, Jays 1
A nice bounce-back win after a terrible defeat the night before. Sox beat the Jays 8-1 in Toronto to start their 3-game set north of the border. Jake Peavy was on his game, making it through the first 7 innings & giving up only 1 run. The return of Will Middlebrooks helped solidify the left side of the infield. Middlebrooks added a couple of hits at the plate. No errors on defense. Big Papi hit his 50th homer of his career against the Jays. In another turnaround the Yankees got beat at home 13-1 by the visiting Angels. What a difference a day makes! John Farrell is correct - it all starts & ends with the starting pitching. A good start by Jake Peavy gave the Sox a chance to build a big lead early off of Mark Buehrle. And the dunce hat goes to Jose Bautista who tried to steal 3rd & was thrown out, negating a big inning. Oh & did I mention the score was 5-0 when he tried to steal 3rd & made the 2nd out? Dumb, dumb, dumb play for a veteran guy. Let's see if Clay Buchholz can redeem himself like John Lackey did & make it 2 good starts in a row today.
