Guest Article #1 on Arizona Baseball
Recently I got the gift of a lifetime from 2 very kind & generous friends. I spent a week in Arizona watching baseball & softball games. The 1st game we went to was at the Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, AZ. It was a very nice park with very nice people. Milwaukee was playing Cincinnati. I got to meet George Foster. I'm glad that he could hit because he was not much of a conversationalist. I asked him about the 1975 World Series & if Ed Armbrister interfered with Carlton Fisk on the ball in front of home plate. It took him a little bit of time to understand what I was asking. When he understood George smiled & said "sure that was the right call." After all these years I thought he would at least be honest. It is always amazing to me that because someone is a good player,(in any sport), we also assign the qualities such as honesty, intelligence, integrity, etc. Athletes are no different than the rest of society. I am guilty of this too.
