Brewers 7, Red Sox 6 in 11 Innings
Strange start to the 2014 season. A series win on the road in Camden Yards, a place that the Sox do not play well. And an opening home series loss at Fenway where the Sox play exceptionally well. Not much for the hometown fans to cheer for yet. Clay Buchholz got lit up for 6 runs & could not make it through 5 innings. Lucky for him that the offense bailed him out to tie it up through regulation. Every other starter had limited the opposition to 2, 2, 3 & 2 runs in their initial starts. Add Buck's 6 to the mix & the starters are averaging only 3 runs per start to opponents. The bullpen has lost the last couple of games with a poor performance by Mujica on Friday & an earned run off Badenhop in the 11th last night. If our starters take another turn & limit the opposition to only 3 runs, we should be in great shape as the Sox offense averages 5 to 6 runs a game. Keep the faith! Jon Lester tries to salvage the finale today & prevent an early 3 game losing streak. I'd bet on Lester winning.
