April Produces Many Teams Around .500
I think it's the cold weather. I think it's injuries. I think it's parity. All of these reasons have produced April records by over 60% of MLB teams that are plus or minus 3 games within .500. Other than Atlanta & Milwaukee, no teams have gotten off to big starts in early going of 2014. Coincidence that the Braves a warm-weather team & the Brewers have a dome? Teams that make-up the 60% category - Orioles, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Rays, Twins, White Sox, Royals, Indians, Angels, Cardinals, Reds, Rockies, Dodgers, Padres, Mets, Nationals, Phillies & Marlins. As much as Red Sox fans may be disappointed with the results thus far, just look at the other teams in the same situation. And there are many playoffs contenders within this group. As in a marathon, which is the definition of a 162-game season, the group of runners stay bunch for the first few miles. Let's see where we are in the race at the end of May.
