Spring Training Over!
Shane Victorino is having an MRI on his hamstring, an injury that flared up more than once last year. His status for Monday is uncertain. If Vic can't go, I'm sure that a competent Daniel Nava could get the call to play right with Jonny Gomes in left. Or Mike Carp could play left to get another lefty bat in against the O's Chris Tillman. Mike Napoli is leaving the spring with a hot bat & we all remember that Nap had a big April last year while David Ortiz recovered from his Achilles injury. Jake Peavy had a nice final outing as his tune-ups are over now. Peavy has the #4 spot in the rotation. Clay Buchholz will stay in Florida to get his final pre-season start in before joining the team in Baltimore. The biggest news as the Sox break camp may be what didn't get done. No extension was finalized for Jon Lester. No move was made to re-acquire Stephen Drew. However, the Sox start 2014 in very good shape with a roster full of talent & very deep at every position. It's game time!
