Lavarnway On Trading Block
So says WEEI today citing a report by Sean mcAdams. It's not shocking. Lavarnway was a power hitter until the Sox made him concentrate on the defensive side of catching. Remember 2011 when he hit 2 HR's in Baltimore in the last games of the season? Tito started him ovcer Saltie because of his bat. But, as Lavarnway got better behind the plate, he got worse at the plate. Another team could definitely use a backup catcher, 1B or DH like Lavarnway who is only 26 years old. There are just too many other young Sox prospects, like Vazquez & Butler, who will get playing time before him. Think of Napoli moving to 1B permanently & how it has helped with his offense & general body health. I've always liked Lavarnway, so maybe he can turn into a Mike Napoli for another team. Good luck, Ryan!
