Is Lester's Extension Next?

Short answer: Yes. I say yes because the Red Sox website is talking about both sides being professional & that discussions are on-going. They would never write that if a deal wasn't imminent before Opening Day on March 31st. And it would be to the team's benefit to get this deal/extension done before Lester hits free agency next year. Who knows what a crazy marketplace that paid $31 mil a year for Clayton Kershaw would fetch for the prize lefty? Lester has stated his preference to remain in Boston for the rest of his career & he would take a reasonable, not highest, offer to stay - similar to Pedroia's deal. Get 'r done, Ben, get 'r done!
