Flyin' Hawaiian Plays Today

Today is the day for Shane Victorino to make his grapefruit league debut. Recovering from off-season thumb surgery, Vic has been slowed by back soreness as well. No need to rush a veteran like Victorino. We all saw how productive he could be in last year's playoffs with big hits against the Tigers & Cardinals. Take your time, Vic! I'm impressed in the early going with the power shown by Bryce Brentz - 3 HR's. If Victorino needs time off during the year, guys like Nava, Carp & Brentz can fill-in offensively. But we certainly lose something defensively with the way he plays RF at Fenway & away. Not since Dwight Evans has a player had as good a command of the tough RF corner at Fenway as Vic.
