Thanksgiving 2003

It was 2003 & right around Thanksgiving Day that Theo Epstein & ownership invaded the house of Curt Schilling to persuade him to sign with the Red Sox & bring the 1st World Series title to Boston in 86 years. Notwithstanding all the crazy talk & opinions that Schilling spouted off about during his years in Boston, the big guy did deliver. Schilling said he wanted to bring multiple championships to Boston - he did in 2004 & 2007. Schilling said he wanted to silence the fans in New York - he did during the famous bloody sock game. My friend from high school had a good saying - "no brag, just fact." So if you backup your words with actions, I guess it's not just idle talk. The Red Sox franchise is no longer tied to the Chicago Cubs as teams with the longest drought from a World Series championship. That honor is now just the Cubs, 100+ years & going strong. Odd twist of fate that Theo is with the Cubs now & trying to reverse their curse. The Red Sox have never been the same since 2004. 3 titles in 10 years. We are spoiled.
