Post World Series Analysis
The improbable Red Sox championship of 2013 has many people within the game dissecting just how the Sox went from worst to first. One GM out west said he didn't think that the Jonny Gomes of the world were a cure-all for all teams & he expected 1st tier free agents to continue to dominate the marketplace. I guess he thinks the Sox were an aberration. Maybe he's right. Alex Speier's analysis for WEEI is that the Red Sox were successful because they were a multiple-headed monster, a team that could beat you in many different ways - speed, defense, power - & not in the same way everyday. He uses Detroit as an example of one guy, an injured Miguel Cabrera, bringing that team back down to being very average. I agree. However, stop please. I don't need all this dissection of a great season in Boston. I accept that the Red Sox put together a deep roster that could cover for injuries to Ortiz, Ellsbury, Buccholz, Drew, Ross & others. This team never lost more than 3 games in a row. More analysis than that, I don't need. I'm happy to enjoy 2013 until a new team is crowned World Series champ next October. Don't bore me with more sabermetric facts like you are solving a mathematical equation. I don't need a graduate study on the Sox complete with charts & graphs. Just enjoy it. You people are ruining my buzz!
