Pedroia's Surgery Scheduled for Tuesday
The Red Sox website says that Dustin Pedroia's thumb surgery is scheduled for Tuesday in Arizona. The Gold Glove winner injured his thumb on the 1st day of the season in New York sliding back into first base. Because he played all year with this injury his doctor may need to find a replacement tendon in his wrist. Instead of 4-6 weeks recovery it could be 6-8 weeks. Pedey says he will be ready for spring training. Pedroia & Ortiz were the glue that held this team together by their steady play & leadership throughout the season. Pedroia could have very easily cashed it in & got the surgery in April, probably missing a half-year like brittle-man Clay Buccholz. But he played through it & gutted it out. His small stature hides an intense desire to win & Pedroia contributed hugely to this championship run & championship team in 2013 by staying on the field. The little guy has a big heart when it comes to playing baseball.
