Pedroia Has Successful Thumb Surgery
The little guy with the big heart had successful surgery to repair a tendon in his thumb that he injured in game #1 of the regular season. Dustin Pedroia's thumb of 2013 won't be compared in the same light as the bloody sock of Curt Schilling in 2004. But don't dismiss the impact of his playing every day this year as a reminder to his teammates of his will to win. An injured thumb did not stop him defensively as he won a gold glove & defensive player of the year awards. It did impact his power numbers at the plate which should improve next year. Pedroia is a tough guy to get off the field. It will be nice to see him healthy next season.
