Interesting Name - Cory Hart

Cory Hart, 31, is a free agent 1B-OF in 2014. Hart made $10 million in 2013. He sat out all of last year with knee injuries & he is waiting for a 100% bill of health from his doctor in early December. Hart would be comparable to Napoli in age & power. Hart has spent time at 1B, but also has the ability to play the outfield. A power hitter, Hart's best year was with the Brewers in 2010 where he hit 31 HR's & has 102 RBI. In his last full major league season in 2012 he hit 30 HR's & had 83 RBI. At 31 Hart might fit the Red Sox 3-year, $13 million per year parameters of guys not looking for long-term deals. Because of his injuries he may even do a 1-year deal for big money & go back out on the free agency market in 2015 a la Adrian Beltran & Stephen Drew. I hope that Mike Napoli re-signs with the Sox, but there has to be a plan B in case he doesn't. I like Hart better than Beltran just from an age standpoint. Supposedly, Hart lost 20 pounds rehabbing his knees, so he may be a John Lackey type chomping at the bit to get back out there. It's worth watching where Ben goes on this one.
