We Win, Moving On To ALCS
Many big contributors to the Red Sox 3-1 win in St. Pete last night. Jake Peavy - nice start by limiting the Rays to 1 run over 5 2/3. Craig Breslow - massive performance to get out of the 6th, 7th & start to the 8th. Koji got a big out in the 8th & did his 1-2-3 thing in the 9th, ending the game by striking out Longoria. Xander Bogaerts - first playoff action & the kid draws an important walk & scores 2 runs. Jacoby Ellsbury - speed kills & he was awesome the entire series. Shane Victorino - gets the go-ahead hit in the 7th besides being plunked in the ribs by Mr. Crooked Hat in the 9th. Dustin Pedroia - clutch sac fly to score a big insurance run in the 9th. And on & on. Daniel Nava - good at bats. David Ross - nice job behind the plate in relief of Saltie. You can see that the 2013 version of the Boston Red Sox is a very deep team that wears down the opposition. Mike Carp didn't even play. The Rays made their best effort, but in the end the Red Sox were just the better team. Nice going, Sox! Way to keep this improbable 2013 season alive!
