Big Test for Lackey Today

John Lackey has been one of the most steady starters for the Red Sox throughout the regular season. He has re-made his image & career with a great year in every respect except one - wins. Today his offense will need to "find a way" against the Tiger vet & ace Justin Verlander. Verlander has had several excellent starts, so in my book he is due for a stinker. Lackey, on the other hand, has been OK in the playoffs, but not as good as he can be. So I'm betting on Lackey to come up big this afternoon at Comerica Park. The Sox havce seen the soft underbelly or weaknesses of this Tiger team -- poor defense & poor relief pitching. If they can keep it close through the first 7 or 8 & get Verlander out of the game, the Sox have a good chance. And the Tigers now know how explosive the Sox offense can be & that no lead is safe. Pressure on the Tigers today in front of the home town folks to perform & pressure on Verlander to pitrch a complete game. As my grandson would say, bring it!
