Big payrolls don't equal wins. There are a number of teams that did not perform up to par in 2013. Fans of the following clubs have had a tough year. Houston Astros - 40 games behind. Miami Marlins - 35 games behind. Chicago White Sox - 29 games behind. Chicago Cubs - 26 games behind. Seattle Mariners - 24 games behind. Minnesota Twins - 24 games behind. Toronto Blue Jays - 23 games behind. NY Mets - 22 games behind. Milwaukee Brewers - 21 games behind. Philadelphia Phillies - 20 games behind. San Francisco Giants - 17 games behind. LA Angels - 15 games behind. Many of these teams were not expected to contend, like the Astros & Marlins. But teams like the Blue Jays, Phillies, Giants & Angels all fell way short of expectations. How about both Chicago teams finishing in last? We have a lot to be thankful for in New England.
