Sox Lose Finale 4-3

Mariano blows a save, but he gets a win on a wild pitch. Lucky, lucky! Two blown saves for Rivera this weekend, so the Red Sox continue to be a thorn in his side. Here's a few thoughts for you. Brandon Workman is being groomed for important work during the late innings for the rest of this season & into the playoffs. The drop-off in effectiveness by Tazawa has necessitated finding another strong arm for Farrell to use in the late innings & Workman will learn from every appearance. You learn more from a loss than from a win. Jon Lester got done in by 3 bloop hits in a row. Luck goes to the Yankees today. Lester still looks dominant & he could be the #1 starter in the playoffs. A-Roid did influence the outcome of this game, so his presence is effecting the playoff picture. I sound like a broken record, but he should not be playing. Bud Selig, can you hear me now? Big home run by Will Middlebrooks off of Rivera which should keep his confidence high. No Ellsbury, no Victorino, no Napoli today & we still almost one. Mike Carp continues to produce in a limited role & JBJ looks much more comfortable at the plate. We missed the sweep, but winning 3 of 4 reduces the Yankees chances of making the playoffs. I can live with 3 out of 4.
