Sox Crush Rockies 15-5

On a night where the A's lost to the Angels the Red Sox gained ground for the overall best record by winning their 96th game of the season. The Sox offense bashed 3 HR's with multiple runners on base to account for 10 of their 15 runs. Shane Victorino recaptured the lead for the visitors with a 3-run shot. Later Will Middlebrooks hit an opposite field 3-run homer, only to be followed up by him hitting a grand slam down the LF line. 7 RBI for Middlebrooks. Great time for Middlebrooks to get his power swing back. And Jacoby Ellsbury made his return to the lineup in seamless fashion - just as if he never missed a game. The addition of Ellsbury makes the Sox a much more dangerous team for the playoffs. And, for good measure, David Ortiz reached the 100 RBI plateau again with a 2-run double. This is the kind of win that gets the team ready for a tough weekend in Baltimore. The magic number is 2, but the O's have had the Sox number this year.
