Red Sox Earn Another Big Win 2-0

It was playoff caliber baseball last night. David Price was the David Price of old & he was very good. The Sox could only muster 4 hits, but they did make the most of their limited opportunities by scoring 2 runs, one of them of the manufactured variety after a hit, bunt & sac fly. The guy in the middle of it - Jonny Gomes of course. Mike Napoli double & scored on Gomes' single. Very importantly, Gomes took 2nd on the throw home. Nava bunts Gomes to 3rd. Gomes scores on a Saltie sacrifice fly. In the field Clay Buchholz showed no rust & picked up his 10th win of the season with 5 shutout innings against a very desperate team. Things couldn't have gone any better for the Sox in game 1 of an AL East series, a series that is more important to the Rays who have lost 12 of 16. A sweep by the Sox will lock up 1st place & leave Tampa fighting the O's, Yankees & Indians for a wild card spot. Tonight's pitching match-up favors Cobb over Dempster, but the Sox are on a roll. You have to believe that something special is happening this year.
