Ortiz Nearing 30 / 100 Mark
David Ortiz has been the model of consistency this year. His offense has never slumped, save for a brief 0-22 slump in August. Even that is pretty minor when you look at 400 to 500 at bats per season. With his home run yesterday Big Papi enters this last week of the 2013 regular season with 29 homers & 98 RBI. He should reach the magical stats of 30 & 100 by week's end. And the team may need it as the amazin' Oakland A's are just 1 game behind the Red Sox in the loss column for the best record in the AL. The A's have 6 games left while the Red Sox only have 5. A lot of people, including some family & friends that I know, were not happy when the Sox gave Ortiz a 2-year deal. I must say that I too was skeptical when he started the year on the DL. But Big Papi has proven everyone wrong. He has been durable. He has been productive. The Sox would not be in 1st place without David Ortiz anchoring the middle of the lineup. Just look at the intentional walks that he continues to draw. Nice year #34, but let's finish it with 30 & 100. I like round numbers.
