October Baseball in Boston

John Lackey pitches a complete game win over the Baltimore Orioles 3-1. The win guarantees the Sox at least a wild card spot. One more win over the next 8 games will result in an AL East championship. Yes, Stephen Drew did have a big 2-run homer. But I thought that Lackey setting down the O's 1-2-3 in the 1st & Dustin Pedroia starting the bottom of the 1st with a ground rule double set the tone for the night. Chris Tillman was not as sharp as in previous starts & the Sox drove his pitch count way up in the 1st 2 innings. It was another close, gring it out until the end game versus Baltimore. This time we had the better pitcher. Jon Lester has a chance to clinch the AL East tonight with a win over Toronto. And, by the way, the Yankees lost to fall further behind the 3 teams ahead of them for the final wild card. It was a good night to sleep.
