NL Set, AL Still Open
We know the 5 teams from the NL who are playoff bound. LA Dodgers win the west. Atlanta Braves win the east. St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds & Pittsburgh Pirates make it from the central - one winning the pennant & the other 2 being the wild cards. That part of the NL is still up in the air & will be decided this weekend. In the AL Oakland A's win the west for the 2nd straight year. Detroit Tigers win the central for a 2nd year. Your Boston Red Sox win the east. Open still are 2 wild card spots for 3 remaining teams - Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Indians & Texas Rangers. New York, Baltimore & Kansas City have all been eliminated from wild card contention. Sentimental favorites in the playoffs would be the Pittsburgh Pirates who ended a 20+ year drought of losing records & no post-season. If Cleveland gets in, the Indians would also be sentimental favorites with Terry Francona. The Tribe has not competed in the post-season since 2007n when Franconia & the Sox went all the way. It's all about getting in & then, as we have seen, anything can happen. Go Sox!
