Mariano Day Today
Mariano Rivera makes his last appearance at Fenway Park tonight. The Sox will honor Mo in a pre-game ceremony. Well-deserved for an opposition player on the hated Yankees. While Mo has been dominate in his career the Red Sox are the one team that has gotten to him more than any other. Mo has more blown saves this year against the Sox. Historically, 2004 will never be forgotten when Bill Muellar singled up the middle right past Mo to drive in Dave Roberts. That one hit after "the steal" put forces in motion that led to the biggest collapse ever by any Yankees team in history & it also led to the 1st World Series win by the Red Sox in 86 years. But Mo was also part of many World Series wins for the Yankees. Rivera is a classy guy, as evidenced in his 2005 return to Fenway when he smiled & waved to Red Sox fans. There will never be another closer like Mo.
