It's Over!

97 wins. 1st place in the AL East. Best record in the American League. Home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Best record in all of baseball. Let's see what Felger, Mazz, Shaughnessy, et. al. can find to bitch about now! In the Oakland loss to Seattle the Red Sox knew early during their game in Baltimore that they had jumped through their last hoop for best record. No Ellsbury, Ortiz or Saltie in the lineup. Jon Lester was taken out early. And still the Sox almost beat the O's, but they end up losing 6-5. It has been one hell of year which was labeled as a "bridge" year by many. The more you stick around baseball, the more you know how little you know. The pre-season favorite Toronto Blue Jays finish last. The Red Sox go from worst in 2012 to 1st in 2013. This team has had it all -- injuries, question marks, guys sent up & down, position battles, different closers, new manager, new coaching staff, trade deadline deals -- and through it all they never had a month under .500. That consistency & depth of talent resulted in 97 wins to date. We have a lot to be proud of. Hats off to the 2013 turnaround team! Congrats to one & all for making baseball in Boston fun to watch again.
