Carp to the Rescue

Bases are loaded in the top of the 10th. It's a 3-3 tie. Your team is dying for a win. The Red Sox pinch hit a lefty, Mike Carp. You have a lefty in the bullpen, but you let righty Roberto Hernandez pitch to Carp after walking Napoli on 4 pitches to load the bases. What are you thinking, Joe Maddon? No managerial genius shown by Maddon last night as Mike Carp promptly hits the 1st pitch he sees over the CF wall in dead central for a grand salami. Sox win 7-3 to take the series & push the Rays further into peril of losing their wild card spot. Don't desperate times call for desperate measures? Was Maddon thinking about who was going to pitch the 11th? If so, he got too far ahead of himself. Once again, the Red Sox step up & meet the challenge of distancing themselves from the rest of the AL East. At this rate the Sox may win the East by 10 or more games & finish with the best record in the AL for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Dumb non-move, Joe. I'm sure that Maddon will be thinking about this game in the off season, especially if the Rays miss the playoffs by one game.

Madden was likely thinking about what kind of outfits his team would wear on their next away trip.
