Big Win

Red Sox 2, Tigers 1. Jon Lester closes the door on Cabrera & Co. with 1 run over 7 innings. Will Middlebrooks hits a timely single to drive in 2 runs after a ground rule double by Stephen Drew. Drew's hit was probably the hardest ball hit off of Scherzer all night. 3 Red Sox pitchers get 1 out each in the 8th. And Koji does his thing, a 1-2-3 9th. This was playoff baseball, low-scoring where one hit or one mistake is the difference between a win & a loss. It was nice to see that baseball luck was with the Red Sox last night when Middlebrooks' ground ball found a hole up the middle. I must say that I enjoyed seeing Iglesias strikeout several times, although he did drive in the lone Tiger run. A 3-pitch K of Iglesias to end the game was a perfect ending to me. Regardless of tonight's outcome, both teams have shown that they are ready for each other should they meet again in October. Look for more of a hitter's game tonight as Dempster goes against Porcello for the series win.
