Best Record in AL On the Line
Boston - 93 wins. Oakland - 90 wins. Detroit - 89 wins. For home field advantage throughout the AL playoffs the Sox need to keep playing hard. With 8 games left a 4-4 record resulting in a 97-win season would probably clinch the best record. While Farrell will be resting players & tweaking his pitching staff the Red Sox know what is at stake over the final 3 series of the year. Detroit went to the World Series last year & the Tigers were expected to win the AL Central this year. Oakland was a nice story last year, edging out the Rangers on the last day of the season for the AL West crown, but no one expected the A's to repeat again with heavyweights like the Rangers & Angels in their division. Boston is a team that the "experts" picked to finish 4th or 5th & here they are with as many wins as losses last season. I hope that Lester continues his dominance of the Jays tonight & the Sox get 1st place sealed up. Then it will all about the best record over the final 7 games.
