Baltimore Is Kryptonite to Boston

There is always one team that gives you trouble every year. This year it's the Orioles for the Red Sox. For the past 2 nights the O's have done to the Red Sox what the Red Sox have done to other teams - come back late in games. Last night the O's score 2 off of Frank Morales to win 5-3 in 12 innings. Plenty, plenty of chances for the Red Sox to win, but they could not get a big hit when needed. Laz Diaz - horrible on balls & strikes. Even I could strike out a few batters if Laz gives me 2 inches on both sides of the plate. Ortiz complains a lot, but he was justified on a ball clearly out of the zone that was called a strike. Laz is right up there with Angel Hernandez in my book. Anyways, Lackey & Tillman go at it tonight in the finale. Maybe we can squeak out 1 win. But it just seems like we can't beat the O's.

Umps aside, they had plenty of chances and didn't take advantage of them. Bases loaded in the 3rd with no one out. Napoli Ks and Gomes grounds to the pitcher for a 1-2-3 DP. There were other squanders as well. The Sox need only look in the mirror for this one.
