9/11 This Past Week
I'm going off script here, but I have a few personal thoughts about 2 things that happened this past week that seemed so wrong during a week that commemorated the worst lost of life on American soil. First, Charlie Rose interviews Bashir al-Assad to have him tell us that he will rain hellfire on American embassies if the US interferes with the Syrian civil war. Really, Charlie. Do you think that your interview airing tonight on 60 Minutes is appropriate? Why do we need to interview a dictator accused of gassing his own people, including women & children? It blows my mind what so-called journalists will do to get ratings & sell ad time. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised by anything these days. Second, the NY Times publishes an op ed from Vladimir Putin that says the US isn't so great. Why should we care what Putin says? Better yet, why should the NY Times publish his article? Again, follow the money. Greed comes in all forms & we see it every day. Corporations that have worldwide interests force us into situations to protect their foreign assets. I thought that these 2 items were very inappropriate given the reminder of 9/11 that family members of loved ones killed in 2001 still have to bear every anniversary.
