6 Teams, Only 2 Wild Cards
Texas & Tampa Bay begin a big series tonight in St. Pete. Both teams start this week as leaders in the AL wild card race. Hot on the heels of the Rangers & Rays are the Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees & Kansas City Royals. It's going to be a wild ride until the end of the season. Terry Francona's Indians & the stinkin' Yankees have easier schedules remaining. Baltimore has a more difficult road with 6 left against the Red Sox & 3 with the Rays. And don't count out a final push by the KC Royals with their pitching staff led by James Shields. Don't count out a tie for the wild cards & then it will really get confusing with elimination games to play another elimination game. It's good to be the Red Sox who will have 5 days off before playing the eventual AL wild card winner.

Let's not hope for too much time off. Sometimes timing can suffer and rust can set in.
