14 Games Left

Nothing is for certain until the math tells you it is so. But an 8 1/2 game lead with 14 left looks pretty darn good in my book. The Sox have taken care of business in September thus far by posting an 8-3 record. There are 9 home games left against the Yankees, O's & the lowly Blue Jays. Then the Sox finish out the season on the road with 5 games against Colorado & Baltimore. If the Sox go .500 & win 7 of their last 14, they will finish the season with 96 wins. Who would have thought it! There is definitely a good vibe around this team. With Tampa still having 7 games left against the Yankees & O's it is doubtful that they could string enough wins together to catch the Red Sox. Same with the Yankees & O's as I expect head-to-head competition to keep everyone around .500 for the next 2 weeks. Maybe Francona's Indians sneak into the wild card as the AL East beats up on each other.
