X-Man Called Up

He may not be a superhero, but the "X" man from Pawtucket - Xander Bogaerts - has joined the Red Sox team in San Francisco. Presumably, Bogaerts will play SS against left-handed starters in place of Stephen Drew. Recently, the Sox offense has gotten a boost from Will Middlebrooks since his return to the big club. Hopefully, Bogaerts too will add more punch to the offense, especially against lefties that the Sox will face on this road trip. There is no question that the Red Sox have been sputtering lately, but take heart in the fact that they are still in 1st place. I'll settle for 3-3 on this west coast swing. Then they can make up ground or extend their lead when the Sox return home. Good news is that Tampa Bay plays the Yankees next.
