Peavy Gets First Win
If Jake Peavy pitches the way he did last night in 80% of his games as Red Sox, no one will remember the name Jose Iglesias. Peavy pitched a strong 7 innings in a 5-2 win. He was aided by the home run balls of the bats of the flyin' Hawaiian & Saltie. A hallmark of this year's Red Sox team is their ability to refocus after a loss or two & get right back into the win column. That certainly was the case last night when facing a tough lefty in Patrick Corbin. Corbin especially made lefties Ellsbury, Ortiz & Drew look real bad at the plate early last night. The win keeps the Rays at bay as Tampa beat SF in 10 innings 2-1. Red Sox still lead the division by 1 game. Baltimore lost yesterday & drops 6 behind the Sox. Felix Doubront pitches for the series win this afternoon. With Lester's problem of remaining consistent Doubront has become the lefty of choice so far in the 2nd half. A win today would be a nice getaway as the Sox hit the road to Houston.
