Lackey Bests Kuroda

Hiroki Kuroda is by far the best pitcher or ace of the Yankees squad this year. John Lackey stood tall in the saddle yesterday & held the recently powered-up Yankees offense to just 1 run over 6 2/3rd as the Red Sox win 6-1. The Sox offense was very patient, taking walks, fouling off balls & driving Kuroda's pitch count up. Jacoby Ellsbury & Daniel Nava had multi-hit games. David Ortiz added more cushion to the lead with a solo shot to center in the 7th. And we finally saw a rare sight - a pitcher who can field his position. Lackey had several assists to aid his own cause. Speaking of fielding, Pedroia was awesome at 2B. Following Lackey, Breslow, Tazawa & Uehara finished off the Yankees allowing no runs. Every win is a big win at this time of year. But Lackey stopped the bleeding. He was the difference. By the way, A-Rod was no factor.
