Fear the Beard!

Jonny Gomes may not hit for average, but he certainly has made the most of his round trippers this year. Gomes' 3-run shot in the 1st inning catapulted the Red Sox to a much needed 4-2 win over the Dodgers. Jon Lester could make a living pitching against teams on the left coast as he threw 7+ innings of shutout ball. He did get charged with a run when Craig Breslow gave up a 2-run double to Gonzo in the 8th. Uehara closed the door with a 4-out save. Jake Peavy pitches the finale tonight for the series win. A win would give the Sox a 4-2 road trip & 2 series wins. Baltimore & New York lose yesterday which gives Boston & Tampa a little breathing room in the standings.
