Brian Roberts - Not Playing Smart

The much-injured Brian Roberts did not have his best baseball mind in this past series against the Red Sox. On Wednesday he tried to steal 3rd off John Lackey & was thrown out by Saltie in plenty of time, sliding right into Bogaerts glove & going right over him. That cost Baltimore a run as Machado homered later in the same at-bat. Last night, against a struggling Jon Lester, Roberts comes to the plate with a runner in scoring position. He swings on a 3-0 count & grounds out 6-3 to end the inning. Dumb! In close games it's these little things that can change the outcome. And I didn't think Roberts, a veteran, acted very veteran-like 2 nights in a row.
