Attendance At Fenway

Aren't we a negative bunch? I guess 32,000 fans who appreciate baseball & are knowledgeable about baseball just won't do for scribes looking to poo-poo the Red Sox this season because they are not finishing 5th as they predicted. There have only been 20 sellouts at Fenway Park this year of 34,000+ fans. Why? Because the days of Fenway being an amusement park or tourist trap are over - at least for now. This year real baseball fans are attending games, not the pink hats & tour buses. The park is consistently 95% full & the Sox will go over 3 million again this year or be close to it. But no, we need to harp on the fact that 5% of the seats are empty. Other than Larry Lucchino, who cares? I guess reporters do since they have had little to criticize about the effort & performance of this team on the field. A team that is performing well, grinding out wins, having fun with Abe Lincoln-looking beards will put real fans in the seats. That's good enough for me. So reporters, shut up!
