West Coast Swing Starts With A Win 6-2 Over Halos

Here's my take on various guys involved in last night's game. Laz Diaz - horrible strike zone. Mike Scioscia - poor positioning of left side of his infield which led to 2 hits, poor decision not to start Mike Trout on a 3-2 count that led to a big double play & a real poor decision to pitch to David Ortiz late in the game with first base open. Angels left side of infield - poor range, 1 throwing error. Angels corner outfielders Schuck & Hamilton - poor D that led to 2 unearned runs. C.J. Wilson deserved a better fate as he gave up only 1 earned run through the first 7. But the Red Sox power of Big Papi & Mike Napoli salted the game away in the 8th & 9th when each clubbed a home run. For Ortiz it was a pinch hit 2-run homer high into right field in the 8th that gave the Sox a 5-2 lead. For Napoli it was a long, long solo shot into deep center field in the 9th that lengthened the lead. Koji did his 1-2-3 thing in the 9th. Felix Doubront went 6 2/3, giving up only 2 runs, but it wasn't an easy 6 2/3. Doubront still scares me when he starts walking batters, but he managed his way out of trouble. All in all, a good win to start the road trip. The Red Sox played like a 1st place team. The Angels played like a team under .500.
