The Game That Got Away
I stayed up until 2 A.M. expecting to see a 7-3 victory by the Red Sox. Instead, Brandon Snyder did an imitation of Angels' infielders by throwing a ball away. Angels tie the game 7-7 & go on to win 9-7 in 11 innings. I turned it off after the game went into extras. Funny how quickly a game can change. The Red Sox had multiple opportunities to blow the game wide open throughout the earlier innings, but they never got the kill shot with RISP. The Angels committed 3 more errors last night & they looked completely out of it - until the 9th. Ryan Dempster deserved a win. And now the Sox need to beat the Angels tonight to take the series behind John Lackey. If anything, last night's game shows that the Sox need more quality arms in the bullpen. Andrew Miller got hurt with what looked to be a sprained ankle, so there may be a roster move coming. One bright spot was Andrew Bailey coming into the game to induce a big double play in the 7th & pitching a scoreless 8th. Maybe he can contribute again.
