Sox Get Jake Peavey

Kudos to Ben Cherington! Jake Peavey is a great addition to this Red Sox team for the stretch run. Here's why. You gave up Jose Iglesias whose stock couldn't be higher right now. Iglesias is a gifted fielder & he can play multiple positions. Detroit had a need due to the pending suspension of Jhonny Perralta. The Red Sox are overstocked at SS with Drew now & Bogaerts perhaps later this year. Will Middlebrooks or Xander Bogaerts can man 3B for the rest of the year & provide some firepower from the right side of the plate. Peavey's signing also shows Clay Buchholz that the team is ready to move forward with or without him. If Buck gets back into the rotation, Brandon Workman becomes a valuable right arm out of the bullpen. If not, Workman continues as the #5 guy in the rotation. It's a win-win-win for Cherington & the Sox! Can't wait for last next 2 months.
