July Means Trade Deadline
Get your motor running & hold on. The chit chat for the next 4 weeks will be about who the Red Sox may trade or who they may acquire. Overall, this team has shown amazing depth at all positions. Jackie Bradley, Jr. & Jonny Gomes are quality outfielders. Will Middlebrooks is hitting home runs again in Pawtucket. Allen Webster is getting better as a starter. Alex Wilson has been good more than bad out of the pen. Fixing Andrew Bailey can only help. Xander Bogaerts is waiting in the wings. Rubby de la Rosa is also waiting for his chance. It seems like this team has all the depth it needs for the 2nd half run. I would be against giving up any players or prospects mentioned above. I would keep Jacoby Ellsbury & let him play out his year. Ells has quietly done a good job getting on base & becoming a singles, doubles hitter. He & Victorino create a lot of havoc at the top of the order. Forget bringing in Jon Papelbon or Cliff Lee. That would be a backwards move. Keep the youth movement going. If there was a 1 year, rent a player situation that just cost money, I think Ben would consider that. But don't mess with the team chemistry that is performing so well to date. Remember - this was suppose to be a rebuilding year. I guess no one told the players that!
