24 Versus 40

That's the pitching matchup for the series finale in Oakland today. 24-year old Brandon Workman versus 40-year old Bartolo Colon. Youth versus experience. I remember that Colon quit on the Red Sox a few years ago & then went to some voodoo doctor in South America who performed a miracle operation on his arm. Since then he has been a very good starter for Oakland, as reflected in his 12-3 record this year. I heard that Bartolo's doctor has a line of pitchers camped outside of his door, like 100 to 150 deep, to get the same surgery to resurrect their careers. Colon remains an out-of-shape, older guy, but his throwing arm is like brand new. How many pitchers at 40-years old are 12-3 at the all-star break? You do the math. I'd love to see Workman out-pitch the big guy today.
