Sox Lose Again 7-5
I learned a long time ago that umpires make mistakes. One athletic director told me that the trick is to not have your team get in a situation where one call can make the difference. The ump that called Daniel Nava's catch a non-catch will be eating crow when he sees the basket catch on replay. He was wrong, but the Boston relief staff, particularly Andrew Miller & Andrew Bailey, were not good. Bailey is like a cancer anytime he gets into a game, facing only 3 batters & giving up 2 hits. Miller hits a batter with the bases loaded. Sox lose 3 of 4 in Detroit. Last year I was in Detroit for the opening series when the Sox went 0 for 3, so I guess 1 win is an improvement. Sox come home for 8 games & get a day off on Monday. Maybe some home cooking will be what the doctor ordered to get back on a winning streak.
