Sox Fall to Texas 3-2

Good pitching kept scoring chances by both teams to a minimum. The Rangers converted on a big hit by Andrus to break a 1-1 tie. And the Sox tried a comeback, but fell a run short. In a game where there were few scoring opportunities I saw 2 big outs by Red Sox batters in key situations. Jackie Bradley Jr. had a chance to bunt runners over to 2nd & 3rd with no outs & he fails, striking out without any advance. David Ortiz had worked his count to 3-1 & he also struck out. In a game of few chances you need to perform in the clutch &, unfortunately, neither JBJ or Ortiz did last night. John Lackey pitched well enough to win, giving up 1 run over the first 6 innings. But a double by Andrus to score 2 runs on the first pitch from Uehara sealed the win. Lester goes for the series win against Holland tonight. 2 out of 3 against the Rangers would be fine by me. We are watching the 2 teams with the best records in the AL.
