Red Sox, Bruins Win On National TV
The Boston Red Sox, despite Joe Buck's bias towards the Yankees & his own self-promotion, beat the Yankees 11-1 on Fox's game of the week. The game was lopsided after Mike Napoli's grand slam, so we had to constantly hear promotions for Fox Sports 1, their new sports network. Of course Buck had to bring up the Boston collapse of 2011 & promote his coverage of an NYPD vs. NYFD football game. Unless you are in New York, which a national audience is not, who cares? Sure, Joe, we'll all stop by today just to see you. And he had to work in his 2 back surgeries. Blah! Blah! Blah! In Pittsburgh NBC covered the Bruins 3-0 win over the much-favored Penguins. The only criticism I have of NBC are the length of commercials, but that's national TV for you. Even a stupid penalty by Brad Marchand couldn't get the Pens on the board as lady luck & 3 shots that hit the post by the Pens all bounced the Bruins way. All-world Sydney Crosby looked like a prima dona whose candy got stolen & he seemed to whine about everything that didn't go his way on the ice. It was nice to see the Bruins get a win to show the Pens that they are beatable, despite reports to the contrary. A very good Saturday night in New England.
