Odds & Ends
Bruins win 2-1 in OT to even their series with the Blackhawks. After a slow start in the 1st period anything in red with the puck was being hit by the black & gold for the rest of the game. The Bruins were the better team in game 2. Tuukka Rask gets a lot of credit for keeping the game close. Nathan Horton gets kudos for playing with a just about a broken shoulder. And Tyler Seguin was a force on both goals by Kelly & Paille. Red Sox won 5-4 against the O's to climb out of a 2-game losing streak. Concern for Mike Napoli being sent back to Boston to be examined for strange flu symptoms. Concern over Andrew Bailey staying in the closer's role as he gives up 2 more runs yesterday. He gave up 2 in Tampa earlier this week. Bailey is giving up home runs with frequency & it may not be long before Junichi Tazawa becomes the new closer. Concern over Clay Buchholz missing another pushed back start on Tuesday. Buck just can't stay healthy, even though he has 9 wins. Farrell may put him on the DL. And how about Mike Carp & Jose Iglesias contributing in the field & at the plate to keep the Sox winning. In fact only the St. Louis Cardinals have a better record in all of baseball. So much for those expert reporters & sabermetric people who picked the Sox for last place. I love proving them wrong. Additionally, Xander Bogaerts moves up to Pawtucket at 20 years old. I was hoping to see him play for the Portland Sea Dogs, but not to be. If his bat stays hot, Bogaerts may crack the big league lineup after the all-star break. You can always find room for a hitter. Finally, Happy Fathers' Day to all the dads out there & all the dads in heaven!
