Game 81 Tonight

OK, we've made it to the official halfway mark as the Boston Red Sox play game #81 of the 2013 season against the surging Toronto Blue Jays tonight, weather permitting. If the season ended today, AL division winners would be Boston, Detroit & Oakland with wild cards going to New York & Texas. In the NL it would be division wins for Atlanta, St. Louis & Arizona with both wild cards going to the NL Central teams in Pittsburgh & Cincinnati. Baltimore would miss a wild card berth by .002 of a percentage point behind New York. Cleveland & Tampa Bay are on the outside looking in, but within striking distance. NL East & NL West teams will have a hard time unseating Pittsburg or Cincinnati as the NL wild cards. But lots can happen over the next 81 games. Surprising to see teams like the Red Sox, Yankees, A's & D-backs in playoff positions. That's why you play the games.
